Today's lecture involved disscussing manifestos - which we concluded meant devising a statement of intent, inventory of process or set of rules. Looking over some of these 'manifestos' that have been created over the last century I found myself asking, To appreciate and value art do you need to be able to understand it?.
But probably the most important thing I took away from today was Paul's take on his own personal manifesto, he said he adopted one simple rule when taking on any design - "The Gun to the head solution"(Not literally) which he explained involved strictly only allowing yourself 5 minutes to come up with a solution to any problem/design you need to solve. Regardless of the outcome, it stops us as designers putting things off and forces us to generate ideas fast, not allowing our minds to wonder or fall into traps waiting for some magical inspiration to occur. This is something im hoping to try and adopt in my brainstorming and solution process. But as Paul continued he said it will take time and experience, as this increases my solution process should improve!
Be happy
Chose the right dreams - Not a bad start to a manifesto I think!

One of my favorite design books has a very short but i think apt manifesto: "Make things look better". Simple and to the point.
