listen carefully - display type production

Listen carefully is a display typeface booklet that I designed specifically in relation to a simplified diagram of the human vocal cords. Having completed my self directed study which investigated Communication I wanted to learn more about the way we actually produce sound. This project presented me with the opportunity to explore this interest as well to complete some more illustrative based work that I thoroughly enjoy. When complete, the piece design of four sides of A3 that document the construction and editing of the type that make the phrase 'listen carefully'.

Greetings - Screen printed Infographics

This is a bar chart infographic that I designed and screen printed. It displays the many different ways people greeted me when they answered the phone, showing an investigation of a select 60 calls, the top version (gray stock) was chosen as a final.

Using my Mobile - Infographic Design

This piece is a double sided infographic poster that investigates the way I communicate and use my mobile on one side, whilst on the other it displays a visual representation of the components that make up communication. The contents can be deemed obscure in this format but this has remained a trend in the work I've developed for my self directed study. Some of these obscure visual statistics included 'Game level comparison' and 'Mobile location'.

'Lovely'

Lovely is a poster I designed in response to the motivation we have when in conversations. The poster has six different conversations on the reverse, all of which I recorded from phone calls and made into transcripts. I then cut out all of the text apart from the words that are used that are overly appreciative or sincere. These words highlight how we go about using certain words and approaches in order to achieve the aims of our enquiry or request.

Fakery Submisson - Dupe

Here are some pictures of the embossed front covers I completed on a range of different stocks. This cover was designed to appear as polished as possible in order to give the impression that the contents offered promise and intrigue. The whole concept of the idea was to trick the audience into opening the cover and then having to fold out a complete A0 piece of paper in order to reveal the only content which can be found beneath the very last fold. This included a very simple deffinition of the word 'Dupe'. Hence this was a very conceptual submission in which I always intended on making the audeince work and interact with the piece in order to find the answer. In this case, as the deffinition states, that if a person is duped they 'function as the tool of another'.
