Visual inspiration - Disconnection - FlashForward/Awakenings

The concept of drawing people asleep makes me fall asleep at the minute, when I draw someone comes to life when you complete the eyes, but when there closed how can a drawing have any real life. Anyways to get some visual ideas for this concept of disconnecting, becoming unconcious and switching off I looked into some films and trailers that explored these issues in order to see if it gave me any ideas.

Awakenings trailer(click to see) was one of the films that I looked at as it deals with the concept of patients being in a catotonic state and then being bought back to conciousness and life when a doctor(Robin Williams) makes a particular break through with Leonard(De Niro) a man that has been in a ghostly basically dead state for over 30 years. - Really good film.

Both of the above video's contain footage from the ver popular T.V series Flash Forward in which the whole world experienced a Blackout that lasted exactley 2mins and 17 seconds in which they saw the future. I wanted to look back at this footage beacuse I think the imagery of the blackout occuring is very well done. The public are concious one minute and the next they drop to the floor without warning, they simply disconnect and become unconcious, which for some of them means devastating concequences.
